Hi students! 👋

Otovo is hiring engaged design and computer science students motivated for a summer internship with real impact, both for your future career and the environment.

You will get to:

🧗‍♀️ Work on a real problem. Your solution will help us be more effective at getting solar panels on people's roofs. In 2018 our interns built a tool to automate panel layout. In 2019 they pioneered a tool to do automatic roof surface detection.

🧑‍🎓 Learn from a small but diverse (we speak English in the office) team of colleagues that are among the best in Norway at what they do. Together we got more than 200 years of experience with design, software engineering and product development.

🌇 Work in nice offices in the heart of Oslo, 50 meters from Youngstorget. Update: As you might have guessed, this is subject to change due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We really don't know how this will develop in the next few months. In any case, we're remote friendly company with 2+ years experience of online collaboration across borders.

The challenge

Since 2016 Otovo has been on a mission to bring local and clean energy into every home. Today we're one of the major providers of clean solar energy, operating in Norway, Sweden, France and Spain. In the near future, Otovo will expand to several new European markets.

Working in a growing startup means tackling a continuous stream of fresh problems. At Otovo, we use Python/Django, React and React Native and have a design system to tie it all together. We’re not too concerned about your specific experience with these tools. As long as you're curious and eager to learn, you will pick it up in no time at all.

You will work with customers, installers, and international colleagues to find creative and sustainable solutions. Together, we build systems that are user friendly, well-written, maintainable, and free from unnecessary complexity. We gain user insight by gathering and analysing qualitative and quantitative data – and we have a lot of it!

Special abilities

As a young company we need people who can help where it is needed. While we are looking for allrounders, some special abilities will still be appreciated. Perhaps you have one of these?

🎨 An eye for design and an interest in effective communication through user interfaces? Show us your sources of inspiration!

🗺 Map skills. We combine satellite data, laser data and public information and display it on maps.

🔢 Math wizardry. Calculating solar radiation for all of Europe's homeowners is no easy feat.

🤖 Machine learning - for real. We all know the buzzwords, but tell us about your experience with linear regression or gradient descent and we're all ears.

🗣Some other skill that might come in handy? Tell us why we need it!

Sounds interesting?
